This edition of River Flows in You was created after a long and careful editorial process.
My main intention was not to “reinterpret” the piece, but to offer a clean, reliable and musician-friendly score that reflects the way Yiruma actually performs this work.
Many available editions are either slightly altered, overcomplicated, or poorly organized on the page. In this version, I focused on clarity, logic and playability - especially for pianists who practice independently.
A version that stays very close to Yiruma’s original performance style
Thoughtful and ergonomic fingering, added where it truly helps
Several carefully made redistributions between the hands (right to left and vice versa) to improve comfort, balance and coordination without changing the musical idea
A clean and practical layout: the entire piece fits on three well-organized pages
Clearly written repeats that make reading and learning the piece much easier
I added only a few very small optional details of my own, such as light ornaments and voicing touches. These are not mandatory — you may play them or omit them freely.
Pedaling is generally straightforward and logical, often changing twice per bar. In the introduction, I prefer a slightly longer pedal, which is indicated directly in the score.
One repeat section includes a special note: during the repeat, Yiruma returns to material from bar 6. I chose to indicate this clearly rather than rewriting the passage entirely, in order to preserve a clean and readable repeat structure that greatly simplifies practice.
